Aim:  I can explain the law of conservation of energy.

Read pgs. 122-125 and watch the following video to learn about the law of conservation of energy:

 

Then, complete the following assignments:

  1. Write the highlighted vocabulary word and definition, and “Key Point,” from p. 124.
  2. Answer the “Assess Your Understanding” Questions 1a, 1b, and 1c from p. 123 and #2 from p. 125 (you are answering four total questions). Write questions and answers for each.

Submit these assignments by 3:00 p.m. today, Thursday, 5/21.

Complete the following assignments:

  1. Answer the Figure 1, 2, and 3 questions from pages 122-123. Write question and answer for each.
  2. Read “Energy Transformations and Conservation” Summary Sheet.

  3. Complete the “Apply It” activity from p. 121. Write out each sentence.

Answer the following questions in complete sentences with detail using pages 120-121 to help you:

  1. What energy transformation takes place when you rub your hands together?
  2. What happens to the chemical energy in the food that you eat?
  3. Why is food sometimes called fuel for your body?

  2. Answer the following two questions in complete sentences:
    • What forms of energy are released by a working flashlight?
    • What form of energy is stored in the batteries?

Write all questions and answers.

Complete the following activities:

  1. Read “Forms of Energy” Summary Sheet.
  2. Complete Review and Reinforce WS (119D). For #’s 3-8, write the objects name and the letter or letters that apply for each illustration.  Letters will be used more than once, and most illustrations will have several forms of energy.
  3. Complete Lesson Quiz WS (119 F).

Write question and answer for each.

– In exile Ezekiel offered the hope that God would shepherd his people back to the promise land.
