End of Year Letter

Dear Parents/Guardians: Thank you for another blessed year together! Although the end of this year, Covid19 has given us a major challenge, non-the-less it has not diminished the joy that I have shared this year with your children entrusted to our care.

Our last day of school is today, Friday, June 19, 2020 for grades 1-7.

This year the children have had the additional challenge of virtual digital instruction, but they have continued to work hard. Learning the elementary school curriculum is a gradual process which culminates with Grade 8; therefore, I want to assure you that things will quickly get back to normal for the children in September. Report cards will be emailed to you on Monday, June 22 for Grades 1-7.

As a reminder, if you refer any family to our academy and they register with us, and stay with us for one year or more, you will be entitled to a $750 rebate off your next year’s tuition.

If you have not re-registered, please contact Mrs. Frances Rodriquez at francesbarrio@yahoo.com to re-register your child. If money is an issue, please call and we will make special arrangements for your payments.

We hope you will have a restful and enjoyable summer. I thank you for another good year together. Listed on the next page are the September “back to school” dates for the opening of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Academy.

Rest assured that when your children return to our academy, all sterilization of the desks, classrooms, and all areas where the children will be would have occurred.

All CDC and Diocesan regulations for safety of the children will be strictly followed.

Since no other letter will be sent to you in August regarding this information, we request you keep this letter in a safe place for reference in September 2020.

The schedule below is subject to change if government regulations or world circumstances do not permit us to return for these dates. In the event this occurs, you will be informed of the changes through our website page. Please check the website regularly. WE DO EXPECT TO COME BACK IN SCHOOL THIS SEPTEMBER.

The academy office will be open from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for registrations, information, and transfers.

September 3 The Gym Uniform Company will be here at 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. to sell gym uniforms if you need them.

Thursday, Sept. 17 GIRLS AND BOYS TOGETHER

September 21

 Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 regular class schedule begins. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Please provide lunch-if you are not part of hot lunch program yet.) Please do not purchase supplies for Pre-K students until parent orientation, Sept. 14.

All grades K-8 have a 6 ½ hour instructional day. They must arrive by 8:00 a.m. There is a person on duty at that time.

Tuition pre-payment, due by August 15, should be mailed to the academy or brought in person on September 1 – 3. Paying on the first day of school causes too much confusion as your CHILDREN WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO CLASS ON SEPTEMBER 9 if payment or prior arrangements have not been made on registration fee, activity fee, lunchroom maintenance fee and tuition pre-payment.

Also, any outstanding payments from this current school year, 2017-2018 must be paid. Should you have any other outstanding balances, these must be paid as well. If due to the Covid19 pandemic, you have not been able to make payments and have documented proof of loss of income or work, arrangements will be made at the time you come to the academy on September 1 – 3.

UNIFORMS: By selecting to attend Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Academy, you are agreeing to the academy uniform. Students are to be in COMPLETE uniform at all times. No excuse will be accepted unless the parent sends a note. Otherwise, the student will be required to call home for the proper attire to be brought to school. JEWELRY is NOT part of the uniform. Girls may wear ONE SET OF SMALL post earrings (NO HOOPS). This is for their safety! Boys are NOT permitted to wear earrings. No make-up or nail polish is to be worn at any time. Extremes in hair styling (too long, too short, fad styles, or long braids on boys) of both boys and girls will not be tolerated. Boys’ hair must not cover the eyebrows and must clear the collar by one inch. Hair adornments must be small and in keeping with the uniform. Students’ hair is expected to remain its natural color and be neat and clean. Month of September and June – no ties – white shirt opened at the neck – top button only. Spring uniform may be worn after Easter and the months of September and October. Winter uniforms (grades 1-8) may be worn after October 15, not gym uniforms. Gym uniforms are for gym only. The school’s cardigan vest or sweater. No pullovers. Girls’ skirts (all grades) are to be NO MORE than one-half inch above the knee at all times. Skirts are not allowed to be rolled up. If boots are worn in the winter time, uniform shoes must be brought to class and boots are to be changed in the classroom. Shoes only in the classroom. Our school is much too warm to have children seated in boots. Pins and fancy belt buckles are not to be worn. No cell phones are allowed in school. No pocketbooks allowed. Wrist watches may be worn but it is the student’s responsibility to provide a safe place for their belongings especially during gym. (Faculty members will not be responsible to personal belongings or money.) Students carry money at their own risk. It is strongly recommended students not carry valuables to class. GYM UNIFORM:

The gym uniform consists of navy blue sweatpants, sweatshirts, shoes with white tee shirts with the academy emblem. This can be purchased through the academy. Order forms are available in the office. Black or white sneakers are to be worn. No light-up sneakers are to be worn. No other colors such as red, green, and neon colors are permitted.
