Mrs. Julia Mathew: Teacher of the Month for March 2018

Mrs. Julia Mathew received her Masters Degree from Nova Southeastern University in Reading Education.

Before getting into teaching, Mrs. Mathew was interested in becoming a Pediatric Nurse and even worked in the ER department of a hospital. After several years in the field, she decided to become a teacher. Her passion for the field of education began when she took up tutoring and as being the eldest child, she was always around to help her younger siblings in their studies. She has been a teacher for over 8 years, with this being her first at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Academy. In addition to teaching fourth grade, Mrs. Mathew is also in charge of the Academy’s Sports program.

She says of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Academy that “there is a sense of community and family unlike that of any school I’ve worked at before.” Outside of work she enjoys gardening and cooking. We were able to get her to share one of her favorite recipes for Vegan Banana Bread (which is linked below).
